"I started practicing yoga only few weeks ago; the first time, I went to an open day at the Sivananda Yoga Centre and I really enjoyed it. Since I wanted private lessons I asked Komal to be my teacher. She taught me a daily routine, how to breathe properly, relax and concentrate. After three weeks I started to feel the benefits of yoga, and how my body was more flexible and my mind more relaxed. Komal is a very good yoga teacher; she is very clear with the instructions and constantly checks your posture and breathing. She also varies the routine according to each student; in my case I have thyroid problems so she has taught me some postures that will aid my health." I'd done a beginners course at Triyoga and the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Maida Vale but once the course was over I struggled to find the motivation to go back. When Komal told me she'd trained as a yoga instructor I told her I wanted lessons. She was my teacher from September 2010 - until I moved to Dubai at the end of December 2011. In the beginning I found the classes quite difficult, but she assured me that with time (and practice) I would get there. She was right! She has a gentle manner of teaching and is always very encouraging. She will push you, but not beyond your capabilities, and she can adapt any asana to make it easier (or harder). Our yoga lessons at Marks & Spencer, help me to stay calm & focused which adds to my general wellbeing. I am not very flexible & although I cannot do all the postures (asanas) this does not matter as Komal always makes it very clear that the aim of the class is to attempt what you can (safely) & stretch yourself a little more each week.
